Since 1999, Alaska Kidney Patients have provided the kidney patients of Alaska with support, education, and advocacy through the annual patient education symposiums, quarterly newsletters, and support groups. In 2008, the Alaska Kidney Patients Association incorporated as an Alaskan non-profit and was granted 501(c) (3) status in November 2008.

Because of the tremendous growth of Alaskans with kidney disease, the AKPA Board of Directors expanded our mission to embrace public kidney education and prevention of kidney disease for the State of Alaska. The Alaska Kidney Patients Association is the only kidney health organization in Alaska.
