We provide FREE specialized services to child victims of sexual and/or severe physical abuse in Lawrence, Giles, Maury, and Wayne Counties in Middle TN.
All of our services are free of charge to the child victims and their non-offending caregivers. Our services include:
Forensic Interviews - we provide a legally sound investigation that is non-leading and appropriate to the child's development.
Therapy - we utilize trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TFCBT) with our children as well as eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. These are evidenced based therapies that are effective in reducing the PTSD symptoms commonly experienced by abused children.
Family Advocacy - our family advocate works with the non-offending caregiver to ensure he/she has all the resources they need to be a strong support for the child an the entire family. She also links them with resources that can focus on the caregiver's healing too.
Forensic Medical Exams - we are very fortunate to be one of Our Kid's satellite clinics. Our Kid's are a team of medical specialists who visit our center twice a month to provide medical exams for the child victims.
Prevention and Community Awareness- we utilize Darkness to Light's "Stewards of Children" curriculum for prevention. It is the only evidence based prevention curriculum that targets adults and is effective at increasing protective behaviors that will reduce the risk of victimization of our children.
Kid's Place received our 501 (c)(3) status in 1999. We have been providing quality services to our communities since then. We work closely with local law enforcement, department of child services, and the district attorney's office to ensure that our children have their needs met and that they are protected from future victimization.
