ABOUT RURAL DOG RESCUE

Rural Dog Rescue is a non-profit organization whose mission is to save the lives of dogs in high-kill shelters in hopes of finding them their forever home.

High-kill shelters are shelters that usually have an euthanasia rate of 80% or higher. Stray dogs can be euthanized after 72 hours and owner surrenders can be euthanized immediately if the shelter is full. Most of theses dogs lives depend on rescues to to save them from a certain death. Many of the shelters that we rescue from our in poor areas of the country -- some of the shelters are outdoor facilities with crates stacked on top of each other and a tarp thrown over them.

Owner surrenders in these areas are high - as are the alarming number of pets that are not spayed or neutered.

We desperately need fosters and volunteers in the NC and SC area as well as fosters in the DC, MD, DE, Northern VA area. Fosters are the life line for these dogs!
