ABOUT HUMANE SOCIETY-CALUMET AREA

Working within a no-kill philosophy, HSCA provides shelter and medical treatment for unwanted and abandoned animals while finding loving adoptive homes.

Humane Society Calumet Area, Inc. has three seperate buildings at this location, the Adoption Center, Intake Center, and the Estelle Marcus Animal Clinic.

The Humane Society Calumet Area was created in 1941 as a Humane Education organization to spread the message of the humane treatment of animals. A shelter was opened on Calumet Avenue in Hammond, where the shelter operated until 2000 when the shelter was moved to 45th Street in Munster.

The Humane Society Calumet Area, working within a no-kill philosophy, provides shelter and medical treatment for unwanted and abandoned animals while finding loving adoptive homes. It promotes population control along with kindness and ethical treatment through education and example.
