Active Minds is changing the conversation about mental health.
Since its founding in 2003, Active Minds has gone from a small group of students in Alison Malmon’s dorm room to a network of more than 400 student-led chapters across the country and a dozen nationally acclaimed programs and awareness campaigns including; Active Minds Send Silence Packing®, a powerful display of 1,100 donated backpacks and personal stories representing the 1,100 college students who die by suicide each year; and National Day Without Stigma, observed in October every year and dedicated to eliminating the shame and discrimination surrounding mental health disorders.
Active Minds is the leading national nonprofit organization working to engage the student voice to change the conversation about mental health. Through a rapidly growing network of more than 400 student-led chapters at high schools, colleges and universities, Active Minds empowers students to speak openly about mental health in order to educate others and encourage help-seeking. Active Minds has chapters in 45 states plus Washington, DC, Puerto Rico, Australia, Canada, and Ecuador.
Active Minds is a national nonprofit headquartered in Washington D.C. Follow us on Twitter and Instagram @Active_Minds. For more information visit: www.ActiveMinds.org.
Dedicated to eradicating the stigma associated with mental illness, Active Minds members work to promote awareness and understanding of the issues on campuses nationwide. We know that mental health issues face thousands of students everyday, and we commit to doing everything we can on campus to bring attention and respect to the cause.
