Empowered Women International helps Washington DC area immigrant, refugee and low income women become successful business entrepreneurs ewint.org
Since 2002, Empowered Women International has provided business training, mentoring, and support in the Washington DC area to help immigrant, refugee and low-income women turn their creative or cultural assets, artistic abilities, and skills into successful businesses.
We believe in a world in which immigrant and refugee women in the United States and around the world are treated with respect and dignity and are valued and rewarded fairly for their skills, talents and labor. We also believe in the extraordinary power of the arts as a unifying language of communication and multicultural understanding, as well as being a vehicle of integration for newcomers.
Our programs include career development, marketing and micro-entrepreneur training, income generating opportunities through teaching, retail and artists markets, and culturally diverse art education and outreach.
Our mission is to provide a network of support and create opportunities for immigrant and refugee women and families in the Northern Virginia and metropolitan Washington, D.C., area, using the arts as tools of empowerment, communication, cultural understanding and entrepreneurship.
